Update: Wednesday, March 18:
Donald Trump on Wednesday morning announced he is forming an exploratory committee as he moved closer to a final decision on whether to run for President.
The name of the committee, as the New Hampshire Journal reported Tuesday night, is the “Donald J. Trump Presidential Exploratory Committee.”
In a statement (highlighted, by the way, by four exclamation points), Trump said:
“I have a great love for our country, but it is a country that is in serious trouble. We have lost the respect of the entire world. Americans deserve better than what they get from their politicians — who are all talk and no action!
“I have built a great company, created thousands of jobs and built a tremendous net worth with some of the finest and most prestigious assets in the world — and very little debt! All Americans deserve the same opportunity.
“Our real unemployment rate is staggering while our manufacturing base is eroding on a daily basis. We must rebuild our infrastructure, control our borders, support local control of education, greatly strengthen our military, care for our veterans and put Americans back to work! We must stop other countries from totally taking advantage of our representatives who are being out-negotiated at every turn. I am the only one who can make America truly great again!”
Corey Lewandowski of Windham, senior political adviser to Trump said:
“Mr. Trump has the vision and leadership skills to bring our country back to greatness. He has run an extremely successful corporation for many years. During that time, he has created thousands of jobs. Mr. Trump has a proven ability to present real solutions and get things done. He looks forward to meeting with Americans across the country and sharing those solutions to the serious problems we are facing.”
As reported, Trump will return to New Hampshire on Thursday to meet with a group of local veterans and business owners and to attend a reception at the home of state Rep. Steve Stepanek, R-Amherst.

Tuesday, March 17:
Not surprisingly, it has a direct, straightforward name.
Tomorrow, billionaire Donald Trump will announce he’s taking the next step toward a presidential candidacy with the filing of an exploratory committee.
The name, the New Hampshire Journal has learned, is quite simply: The Donald J. Trump Presidential Exploratory Committee.
The filing with the Federal Election Committee will be made following necessary legal reviews are completed, a source close to Trump said Tuesday night. While it’s a big step toward a candidacy, it does not necessarily mean that Trump will become a candidate; that remains to be seen.
Still Trump made it clear last month that after weighing runs for President in the past, this time, he’s serious. He has hired staff, including veteran conservative operative Corey Lewandowski of Windham, as his senior political advisor and would-be campaign manager. And he has met with Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus.
Still, sources say, Trump intends to consider how the field develops before he makes a final decision and there is not, as of tonight, a definitive timetable.
And, by the way, Trump will be in the state on Thursday for media interviews and to meet with what is being predicted as more than 200 conservatives at the Amherst home of state Rep. Steve Stepanek, a close friend and ally of former New Hampshire House speaker Rep. Bill O’Brien.
He’ll be back in April to speak at the state GOP “First-in-the-Nation Republican Leadership Summit.”
