Tom Thompson endorses Ovide for governor

Republican gubernatorial candidate Ovide Lamotagne announced the support of anti-tax advocate and Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire Honorary Chairman Tom Thomson today. Thomson made his endorsement at an event at the Mt. Cube House overlooking the Governor Meldrim Thomson Scenic Highway – named for Thomson’s father – in Orford, NH.

“I am honored to secure Tom’s support today”, said Lamontagne in a statement released by his campaign, “For many years, Tom has been the leading pro-growth, anti-tax advocate in New Hampshire. He is a principled conservative who learned from his father, former Governor Meldrim Thomson, Jr., that low taxes are the result of low spending. For years, Tom and his family have fought to uphold this principle, working to keep our taxes and spending low, and our government small and honest. In addition to his work as a taxpayer advocate, Tom is the owner of the Thomson Family Tree Farm, and he understands the unique challenges facing our small business owners and the forestry, agricultural and recreational industries. Tom exemplifies public service, and I look forward to working with him to spread my pro-jobs message of economic renewal throughout New Hampshire.”

Announcing his support, Thomson said, “I am proud to endorse Ovide Lamontagne for Governor today. Ovide is a proven conservative, who has shown time and again in the public, private and non-profit sectors that he is a leader we can trust and rely upon. He has taken the Pledge to veto any broad-based tax. Our state faces challenging times, and there is no doubt that Ovide is the conservative leader with the plan to get our economy back on track, and renew our New Hampshire Advantage. He is a man of enormous integrity and I am honored to join his growing team, and get to work at electing him as our next Governor.”

Following the announcement event, Lamontagne toured the King Forest Industries Saw Mill with Thomson, a longtime forestry advocate.

    Ovide & surrogates –
In the spirit of honoring Tom’s endorsement, might you start with an open discussion of what you are proposing to uphold your principled conservative positions of re-instituting a small and honest government:
    1. How much are you going to cut from the budget, by when?
    2. Which taxes will you axe, by when?
    3. Which agencies will you axe, by when?
    4. Will you remove marriage from the unconstitutional domain of State oversight, if not, why, and the NH Constitutional basis (please cite specific text) for such position?

Please have the integrity of your convictions to answer these and other piercing questions fully and honestly, instead of dodging and shaving half-truths like the other pols.
