TGIF: Hassan’s ‘Tax of the Day’ series ends the week with another automotive tax
Last Friday, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Maggie Hassan was hit with tax number thirteen. This Friday, Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign is hitting her with the thirteenth vehicle related fee she voted for during her time in the state Senate.
Unlucky thirteen, indeed.
“As a part of a budget the Union Leader referred to at the time as ‘a hodgepodge of…tax and fee increases,’ Sen. Hassan voted to impose an annual vehicle registration surcharge of between $30 and $75 on our state’s motorists,” read this morning’s press release from the Lamontagne campaign.
The surcharge effectively doubled the cost of annually registering an automobile in the state.
