District 9 Senator Andy Sanborn, who emerged as one of the few Granite State Republican winners in the 2012 election cycle after handily winning a recount, is getting vocal about his thoughts on who should be the next Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee.
In a Tweet sent out from his official Twitter account on Friday, Sanborn offered this enthusiastic endorsement of former NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams:
Ryan Williams for NH-GOP Chair?Heck yea
—Sen. Andy Sanborn (@SenatorSanborn) November 16, 2012
Williams’ name has been increasingly bandied about as leading Republicans call for an overhaul of a State Party structure most agree has become ineffective and did little to help 2012 state and local candidates, resulting in Republicans losing the NH House and barely hanging on to the Senate.
Williams’ aggressive style when he served under then-Chair John H. Sununu won accolades from Republicans and became the stuff of nightmares for Democrats, and his presence on the 2013 shortlist is already causing NHDP Chair Ray Buckley to quake in his boots. The support of a prominent legislator like Sen. Sanborn could prove very influential in what is likely to be a multi-candidate battle for the Chairmanship.
