Online fundraising appeals are commonplace among officeholders and candidates these days, but fundraising on Easter?
Senator Jeanne Shaheen seems to think so.
“I can’t do all it takes to win without you. Click here to donate $5 or more before midnight,” reads a blast from the senior senator’s 2014 re-election account, sent on a day when millions of American families gathered to celebrate a cherished religious holiday.
And the goal Shaheen’s fundraising appeals were seeking to meet? A paltry sum of $6,318 before the latest filing deadline with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), which was yesterday.
“I’m determined to keep on fighting for our shared values and these goals are critical. We have to be able to air ads that debunk Rove’s lies and reach voters all over the state,” the email says.
Apparently Shaheen’s “shared values” don’t include honoring a day valued by many Granite State families.
