Amid a long list of major Republicans and conservatives planning to be in Iowa this weekend for a “Freedom Summit” hosted by Citizens United and Iowa U.S. Rep. Steve King is the name of a state representative from New Hampshire.
Former House speaker Bill O’Brien is listed as a featured speaker and a conservative leader to be speaking to the group on Saturday in Des Moines, along with Sarah Palin and potential presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Donald Trump, Rick Perry, Dr. Ben Carson, Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina and John Bolton.
Also listed as featured conservatives are Newt Gingrich, and Sens. Charles Grassley and Mike Lee.
Here is the Freedom Summit website, listing the speakers. O’Brien appears at the lower right.
O’Brien, who was the Republican House nominee for New Hampshire speaker, but lost the final speaker’s election to Rep. Shawn Jasper, said last week that he has been inviting presidential candidates to speak with his supporters in New Hampshire in individual meetings that would last several hours each. He said he is asking for donations to the House Republican Victory PAC, which he chairs, to defray expenses, but said there is no “pay to participate,” or “pay to play,” requirement.
