No ‘watering’ down ‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ #35

Shifting the spotlight back into an aquatic focus, Republican gubernatorial nominee Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign is reminding New Hampshire voters that it wasn’t just boating fees that Maggie Hassan raised.

Tax number 35 deals with the defeated state Senator turned gubernatorial candidate’s “vote to double the administrative fee on the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.”

“The Department of Environmental Services administers the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, which provides assistance in the form of low interest loans to community and nonprofit water systems to finance the cost of drinking water infrastructure. Under Sen. Hassan’s leadership, those loans became a bit more expensive when she voted to double the administrative fee in order to help ‘balance’ the 2009 budget,” states this morning’s press release from the Lamontagne campaign. “Of course, these costs pass directly to taxpayers and donors in communities and nonprofits across the state.”
