On the heels of President Obama’s apologizing to the millions of Americans who’ve lost their health insurance thanks to Obamacare, following years of promises that no pre-purchased plans would be lost, the New Hampshire Republican Party is calling on Senator Jeanne Shaheen to follow suit.
“Senator Jeanne Shaheen cast the deciding vote in favor of ObamaCare and she dishonestly promised her constituents that this disastrous law would allow them to keep their health insurance if they liked it. That statement was clearly false, but Senator Shaheen has refused to own up to her mistake and apologize to New Hampshire,” stated party head Jennifer Horn in a press release. “If President Obama is willing to apologize for lying to the American people about the disastrous consequences of ObamaCare, Senator Shaheen should offer a similar apology for spreading the same lies. An apology won’t undo the damage caused by ObamaCare, but Granite Staters expect their elected officials to be honest and admit when they are wrong.”
The release further cites remarks made by the Democratic senator, who’s up for re-election next year, vowing that “everyone will have the freedom to keep their healthcare plan if they like it.”
Millions of Americans have since gotten cancellation notices since Obamacare’s October 1st rollout, with the backlash finally forcing the president to issue an acknowledgement and apology.
