A new website launched by the New Hampshire Republican Party is the latest attack on Governor Maggie Hassan’s proposed budget.
Dubbing the first-term governor’s plan a “house of cards budget,” nhbudget.com offers a petition for citizens to sign demanding a “balanced budget today.”
What’s proven especially controversial about Hassan’s budget is her inclusion of “$80 million in revenues for licensing a casino that has not been approved by the Legislature. According to Seacoast Online, NH GOP chair Jennifer Horn derided the budget as dependent on “phony, fraudulent and illegal gambling revenue.”
The site makes the latest attack on Hassan’s budget, which has seen criticism of the gambling revenues come from both sides of the aisle. Michael Delaney, Hassan’s own Attorney General, has voiced his opposition to the idea.
A Seacoast Online poll, conducted last week, showed that 63 percent of respondents oppose gaming in New Hampshire.
