‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ #12: Healthcare facilities
Apparently Republican gubernatorial nominee Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign wasn’t kidding when it said that, every day until the election would bring a new tax increase Democrat Maggie Hassan had supported.
Today the tax increasing spotlight is shone on Hassan’s 2009 vote for HB 2, which dealt with health care facility fees. The measure saw bed fees rise “from $2.50 to $25 per bed” while “laboratory fees increased from $65 to $150 per service.” Home health care providers also saw a spike in their licensing fees, to the tune of “$20 to $250 annually,” or a 1,150% increase.
Lamontagne’s campaign blasted Hassan, a defeated state Senator turned gubernatorial nominee, as having a “well known record of advocating for policies that will make healthcare in New Hampshire more expensive.”
