Lamontagne weighs in on Stephen decision not to seek Corner Office
Ovide Lamontagne is out with a gracious statement directed at 2010 Republican gubernatorial nominee John Stephen, who announced he will not seek the governorship again in 2012. It’s not terribly surprising that Lamontagne would heap praise on a man who would otherwise be competing for the same job he is, but the two are known to be friendly enough. Ovide’s job it to consolidate Republican support behind his candidacy in order to maintain his frontrunner status.
Below is the statement:
“John Stephen is a dedicated public servant whose years of able leadership in the Attorney General’s office, and at the Departments of Safety and Health and Human Services has served Granite State families and taxpayers very well. Republicans owe a great debt of gratitude to John for his strong campaign for Governor in 2010. As our standard bearer, John blazed a trail which Republicans successfully followed in record numbers, helping to secure majorities in the House and Senate that have led to the beginning of a conservative, free market renewal here in New Hampshire. From one Manchester native and Trinity grad to another, I wish John, Jenny and their entire family all of the best and I look forward to their continued service to the citizens of our State.”
