A new poll paid for by a pro-GOP group showed that former Congressman Frank Guinta would enter a rematch with Rep. Carol-Shea Porter by a healthy margin.
The survey, paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee and conducted by Harper Polling, showed Guinta ahead by 7 points, 48-41 percent. Shea-Porter’s favorable/unfavorable ratings were tied at 41 apiece.
WMUR’s report of the survey decried the poll’s methodology as oversampling Republican voters in 1st District, yet numbers that far below 50 percent should be taken as serious cause of concern for any incumbent.
As their report also notes, the NRCC-funded poll only pitted Guinta against Shea-Porter, though other Republicans including Chris Sununu have indicated they’re looking at the seat.
