U.S. Rep.-elect Frank Guinta on Monday named former campaign manager Jay Ruais as his chief of staff in his congressional office and long-time associate Sean Thomas as deputy chief of staff.
Ruais, a Salem native, in 2010 was a Guinta campaign field manager and moved up in the recent campaign to campaign manager. Thomas, of Manchester, served four years as chief of staff to Guinta when he was the Mayor of Manchester and then was Guinta’s Director of Constituent Services during Guinta’s first term in the U.S. House in 2011-2012. Thomas is current a member of the board of New Horizons for New Hampshire.
Also, Guinta said that Ethan Zorfas, who previously served as congressional chief of Staff and as a general consultant on his prior congressional races, will stay on as a political advisor to Guinta.
Guinta said in a statement: “I am pleased to announce that Sean and Jay will be joining my congressional staff. Their deep knowledge of the District and the needs of Granite Staters will be invaluable to my Washington and in state staff. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the 114th Congress to enact policies that strengthen the middle class, protect and preserve our entitlement programs while reducing our debt and deficit.”
Guinta last week defeated Rep. Carol Shea-Porter 52 to 48 percent, after losing to her in 2012 and defeating her in 2010.
