Guinta collects on AFC game wager
New Hampshire 1st District Congressman Frank Guinta collected on a bet Tuesday from a congressional colleague. Representative Andy Harris (R, MD-01) personally delivered twelve Maryland crab cakes to Guinta’s Washington, DC office.
The two House GOP freshmen entered into a friendly wager last week prior to the AFC Championship between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens. Rep. Guinta put up one dozen clam chowders from Brown’s Lobster Pound against the dozen crab cakes.
Thanks to a missed field goal in the game’s final seconds, the Patriots clenched the title with a 23-20 victory, guaranteeing the crab cakes were going to Granite Staters.
“The score was neck and neck for most of Sunday’s game,” Guinta said, “and it was hard to tell whether crab cakes would be going north or clam chowder would be going south. It was a classic duel between two tough teams. Congressman Harris is a true Maryland gentleman. I just wish the rest of Washington was as good about paying back debts as he has been.”
Rumor has it another friendly wager is already in the works for Super Bowl XLVI between the Patriots and the New York Giants.
