Final NEC poll shows Senate race a virtual tie, Hassan, Kuster up

The final New England College poll of the top New Hampshire races Sunday night had has a continued virtual dead heat between U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and challenger Scott Brown, with Brown up by a half a percentage point.

Separately, a WMUR Granite State Poll by the UNH Survey Center released late Sunday shows Shaheen up by 2 percentage points. Click here for full WMUR/UNH poll results.


In the NEC poll, Brown leads Shaheen, 48.7 to 48. 2 percent, well within the poll’s 2.5 percent margin of error.


In the governor’s race, Gov. Maggie Hassan now leads GOP challenger Walt Havenstein, 51 to 43.7 percent in the NEC poll.


Also in the NEC poll, Republican Frank Guinta leads Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter 52.2 to 42.9 percent in the 1st Congressional District, while in the 2nd District, Rep. Ann Kuster leads GOP challenger Marilinda Garcia, 52.8 to 41.7 percent.
