DiStaso joins Twitter, discovers he is beloved
John DiStaso of the New Hampshire Union Leader joined the micro-blogging site Twitter recently and within a couple of hours on Tuesday earned a gold-plated list of followers who openly professed their admiration for the legendary dean of Granite State political reporting.
After some initial confusion about what handle he is using – it’s @jdistaso – DC-based journalists tweeted and retweeted gushing remarks about DiStaso.
“Legendary NH pol reporter – is getting active on Twitter. This. Is. Huge,” tweeted Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post. His post was retweeted by a who’s who of political reporters.
David Bernstein from the Boston Phoenix called it the “biggest thing in nat’l politics today.”
“Just showed @jdistaso how to tweet. Sorry, 2012 hopefuls, you’re in trouble now,” Tweeted the Union Leader’s editorial page editor Drew Cline.
Not all tweets were as gushing, however. Twitter user @mklavers81 commented that “Hell has officially frozen over!”
