Cornerstone’s Kevin Smith Resigns
Cornerstone Policy Research and Cornerstone Action Executive Director Kevin Smith will announce his resignation from the post today. Smith’s announcement comes amid rumors of a potential gubernatorial run by the popular conservative activist. If Smith enters the race, he will face a primary with already-declared Republican candidate Ovide Lamontagne.

CORNERSTONE DIRECTOR, KEVIN SMITH, ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION
Manchester, NH – Today, after three years serving as Executive Director of Cornerstone Action and Cornerstone Policy Research, Kevin Smith announced that he will be resigning from the organization effective November 1, 2011.
Both Executive Director, Kevin Smith, and Cornerstone Chairman, Shannon McGinley, released the following statements:
Executive Director, Kevin Smith:
“For the past three years it has been my great privilege to work with the Board of Directors at Cornerstone, the legislators in Concord and conservative activists across the state in an effort to advocate for sound fiscal and social conservative policy in New Hampshire.
I am very proud of all that we have accomplished together. We have grown Cornerstone’s size and influence, played a key role in some of the most important legislative battles of the last decade, and helped to increase conservative grassroots activism in New Hampshire.
Cornerstone has also become a credible, consistent voice on behalf of New Hampshire conservatives, played an influential role in the 2010 election cycle and increased fundraising beyond all expectations.
As I move forward, I wish the Board of Directors, our supporters, and the thousands of activists represented through Cornerstone the very best. I expect to work closely with the Board in the months ahead in order to assure a smooth transition to new leadership. I am confident that Cornerstone’s best years lie ahead as it continues to be an influential and effective voice for New Hampshire’s families.
Just as I knew in my heart three years ago that becoming the Executive Director of Cornerstone was the right path then, I know in my heart today that moving on and exploring new opportunities is also the right thing to do. Regardless of which future path I choose, I will be forever grateful to the thousands of Granite Staters that I have met along the way and to those that have supported Cornerstone’s work. I look forward to continuing to work with them and Cornerstone in the future in our effort to further conservative principles in New Hampshire.”
Cornerstone Board Chairman, Shannon McGinley:
“Cornerstone would not be the force it is for New Hampshire families without the sacrifice, leadership, and dedication Kevin has provided over the last three years as Executive Director in addition to his service on our Board in the years prior. I would like to invite everyone who has supported Cornerstone to join us at our Annual Fundraising Dinner on October 28th where we will all have a chance to honor Kevin for his years of service to Cornerstone and our State.
While we seek to put in place our next Executive Director, Ellen Kolb will continue to serve in her role as Director of Legislative Affairs to ensure Cornerstone’s strong representation in Concord continues. Katlyn Manha will also continue in her role as Operations Manager.
The Board remains steadfast in its commitment to furthering conservative, pro-family values in New Hampshire that will make a difference in the laws and policies that shape our great State. In that light, we look forward to working with Kevin both in the future and while he assists us in our transition to a new Executive Director, soon to be announced.”
