New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Monday will make his first visit to New Hampshire since the midterm election. The New Hampshire Journal first reported word of the visit on Jan. 23.
Christie will be speaking a one public event – the Merrimack County-Concord City GOP committees’ Lincoln-Reagan Dinner at the Grappone Center in Concord. Prior to the evening event, sources say, Christie will also hold a series of private meeting throughout Monday afternoon with GOP activists, elected officials and business leaders.
The meeting will be a key part of Christie’s effort to build support in the state has moves toward a formal run for the GOP presidential nomination.
As the Journal reported on Jan. 26, former NHGOP executive director Matt Mowers has signed on to head the New Hampshire operations of Christie’s new PAC, Leadership Matters for America. Presumably, Mowers will stay on to head a New Hampshire campaign should Christie – as expected – formally run for President.
