Potential 2012 presidential candidate Haley Barbour has cancelled his upcoming trip to New Hampshire, scheduled for this coming Monday, March 28th. The Mississippi Governor has been aggressively testing the waters for a presidential campaign but is temporarily putting that aside to focus on his job as chief executive, which includes a looming budget crisis that is set to come to a head this weekend.
An email from top Barbour NH strategist Mike Dennehy reads, “Governor Barbour has to cancel his trip to New Hampshire due to the severity of the Mississippi budget situation. There is an 8pm Saturday deadline for legislators to present a billion-dollar spending deal and the Democrat leadership in the House refuses to agree with Governor Barbour on spending for key agencies.”
Dennehy goes on to add that Barbour expects to reschedule in the near future.
